Valheim Wiki

I actually suggest combining Dvergr Rogue and Dvergr Mage into one page. Their behavior is the same, drops are the same (afaik), and it's as if there's two variants of the same creature. Sort of like how a Fuling with spear isn't a separate page from a Fuling with sword or club.

  • I suggest keeping them separate. Yes, their drops might be the same (seems that way but needs confirmation from someone who can look at the coding), but unlike Fulings they have:
Distinct in-game names ("Dvergr rogue" and "Dvergr mage");
Distinct in-game entity IDs ("Dverger" and "DvergerMage");
Different behaviors (rogues' weapons and attack patterns are very different from the mages);
Different stats (not sure about health but they definitely deal different amounts of damage);
And different spawn patterns (mages only spawn once, around certain POIs, whereas rogues can respawn anywhere in the biome).
That's quite a lot of good reasons to consider them as separate IMO. Fistsh (talk) 09:39, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
  • I'm not really gonna die on this hill, and I acknowledge that there are substantial differences between the rogue and mage entities. However, I still think it's more organizationally efficient to have the two dvergr subtypes on a singular page. A concise and useful description of the two is something like as follows: Dvergr have two subclasses, a rogue subclass and mage subclass. Mages will only ever be found inhabiting the Dvergr settlements scattered throughout the Mistlands, while rogues may spawn in the Dvergr settlements or in the overworld. -Entomber
    • I went back and checked, and the mage types each have their own entity ID. DvergerMageFire has the red staff with fire attacks, DvergerMageIce has an ice staff, and DvergerMageSupport has a yellow robe, homing missiles and can heal. DvergerMage is a combined ID which, when used with the spawn command, will spawn any of the 3 types at random. So the "Dvergr mage" mob is already a Fuling-style combination of several distinct mobs with varied weaponry, stats and behaviors.
IMO, trying to group those with the Dvergr rogues would just make things too complicated and unwieldy when all on one page. When the game itself considers them distinct entity types and even names them differently, I see no reason why we should lump them all together, especially when we aren't doing that elsewhere with other mobs that are vaguely superficially similar. We have separate pages for Blobs, Oozers and Growths; so too with Greydwarfs, Greydwarf brutes and Greydwarf shamans; so we should have separate pages also for Dvergr rogues and Dvergr mages.
