Lava Blobs are aggressive creatures found in the Ashlands. They are the lava counterparts of Blobs that can spread fire.

Similar to their Blob counterparts, the Lava Blob jumps around, and so can close large distance between itself and the player.

Attacks and abilities

To attack, the Lava Blob explodes in a fiery shower, dealing damage and setting nearby flammables alight. When destroyed, even from range, the Lava Blob explodes similarly. The explosion can also slightly damage terrain and deal considerable damage to all nearby structures, creatures, trees and players.

Immediately before exploding, the Lava Blob will appear to grow in size for approximately one second. Additionally, Lava Blobs can jump directly towards their enemies and explode immediately (with no animation) if they land close enough to them.

Notes

• The Lava Blob does not have a head, face, or eyes, but it still has a 'front' and cannot perform its standard explosion attack unless it is facing its target. If it is not facing its target, it will rotate in place until it is and only then explode.

Tips

• When the blob growth animation starts, players wanting to avoid being damaged from the explosion should immediately dodge roll or begin sprinting away from the Lava Blob.
• With careful timing and positioning, players can use the Lava Blob to damage enemies or fell trees without taking any damage themselves.
