Asksvins are hostile, tameable, and fast rideable creatures found in the Ashlands. They look like huge, mutated Necks.

Spawning[]

Type Limit Frequency Stars
Middle of the Ashlands during the day time 2 Common Yes (max 1 star)
Middle of the Ashlands during the night time, despawn at dawn 2 Common Yes

Attacks and abilities[]

For strategies for defeating Asksvins, see Aggressive creature strategies § Asksvin.

Asksvin have a bite attack very similar to Lox. They can also pounce, leaping several meters and damaging at the end of the lunge. The leap attack does high damage to grausten and weaker structures, similar to a Lox, and it can even damage allied creatures.

Both before and after taming, Asksvin take no damage from lava, despite not being immune to fire damage.

Aftermath[]

Defeating Asksvins allows the player to loot the following items.

Drops[]

Item 0 Star 1 Star 2 Star
Asksvin trophy Asksvin trophy 10% 10% 10%
Asksvin bladder Asksvin bladder 1 2 4
Asksvin hide Asksvin hide 2 4 8
Asksvin tail Asksvin tail 2 4 8

Parts for a buildable Asksvin skeleton can also be found separately in the Ashlands, but they drop from destroying Asksvin skeletons already there, not from killing Asksvin.

Taming[]

For general taming information and strategies, see Taming.

Similar to the Wolf, Level 3 (two-star) Asksvins only spawn at night. Like any creatures spawned at night, Level 3 Asksvins will attempt to flee the active area and de-spawn during daytime hours if the taming process has not begun. This can be prevented by either (A) trapping them in a pit or pen that they cannot escape (and staying within 64 meters of them) or (B) by starting the taming process, after which they will never de-spawn.

Asksvins can be tamed by feeding them smoke puffs, vineberry clusters or fiddleheads. They are rideable by equipping the Asksvin saddle. When riding an Asksvin, players cannot attack. Players riding an Asksvin can traverse lava and neither the player nor Asksvin will take damage from the lava.

Tamed Asksvins don't do friendly fire damage to players, any other tamed creatures or neutral Dvergrs.

Breeding[]

Asksvin can breed, provided the asksvin is happy and well-fed with Fiddlehead or Vineberry cluster or Smoke puff, along with there being another asksvin at least within three meters, and no more than 10 asksvins within at least 10 meters. Once the conditions are met, they will accumulate love points with one another until the pregnancy starts. Pregnancy will last a minimum of 90 seconds, then they lay an Asksvin egg. The quality of the Asksvin egg is determined by the Asksvin that laid it (note that quality 1 egg in player inventory indicates 0 stars, 2 indicates 1 star and 3 indicates 2 stars).

Once laid, it would take 30 minutes to hatch into Asksvin Hatchling if there is a heat source nearby (Example Campfire). If the heat source is gone or player puts the egg into their inventory, the timer is reset. Then Asksvin Hatchling takes 50 minutes to grow into adult without the need of heat source.

They will not breed if the cap is reached, which is 10 Asksvins in 10 meters. However, there is currently no known limit to the eggs themselves.

Trivia[]

The word "Asksvin" is Swedish for "ash swine."
