Abyssal barnacles are a resource node and can be mined with a pickaxe from the backs of Leviathans found in the Ocean biome.
Availability[]
Each mined barnacle has a 10% chance to trigger the Leviathan's retreat, signaled by a howl sound. Make sure to have a nearby boat or land to fall back to when it begins to sink.

Notes[]
- Any type of pickaxe can be used to mine the barnacles, but higher grade ones are recommended as they will allow for more material to be mined.
- As Chitin is primarily obtained from barnacles, the only way to obtain additional Chitin after all of a world's Leviathans have been mined for it is by fishing using Heavy fishing bait. Chitin can be endlessly obtained this way, although the required bait can be difficult to obtain.
